About the event
Throwing the bones is an ancient form of divination that is found in numerous cultures throughout the world. Bone reading is performed by shamans, wiccans, and psychic readers. There are many variations to the pieces and the techniques used in bone divination. The bone kits are as unique as the individuals who utilize them in their practice, and may include a variety of pieces such as bones, shells, roots, wood, stones, teeth, charms, and small curios for their readings, while others may use only bones.
The objects in the kit may be found in nature or acquired as gifts through spirit. Each item in the kit has a spiritual wisdom and carries a particular meaning or association.
After determining the focus for the reading, the bones are tossed onto a cloth or on the ground. The reader then interprets the messages based on the meaning of the item, its placement on the cloth, and its proximity to other pieces.
This workshop will introduce you to the fun and fascinating practice of bone throwing and reading. No prior experience is necessary and there is no need to bring anything. If you have any small items that you would like to bring to start creating your bone kit please do. There will be a few items available for no or low cost to help you get started with your kit.Â
